She has recently won Songwriter Of The Year at the Swedish Grammy Awards, been named Secret Genius by Spotify, and had her song Stay by Alessia Cara nominated for a American Grammy. Meet LA based Noonie Bao.
WHERE DO YOU GO CLUBBING IN LA?
I haven’t found a club that I like in LA, but at the same time I haven’t really searched to be honest. A perfect Saturday in my opinion starts with a day party at a friend’s house preferably with a pool, dinner and cocktails somewhere and then Karaoke in K-town.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANT?
I like the atmosphere at PACE in Laurel Canyon. If I’m in Stockholm my favorite place is my parents bistro “Rost”.
WHEN DID YOU LAST GO TO A HOUSE PARTY?
I’ve been working since I got back to LA in January, so the last one must have been my own houseparty this new year at my flat in Stockholm.
WHEN DID YOU GET STAR STRUCK AND WHY?
I never get star struck but last week when Jónsi from Sigur Ros came by my studio I had to pinch my arm. I’ve always been a huge fan of him.
WHERE DO YOU GO TO UNWIND?
I usually stay in my bed all day but I also like to take a weekend trip to Joshua Tree, visit Huntington Gardens (they have a great tea house) or sit in my garden and meditate. I try to mediate every morning.

YOU LOOK GREAT IN ANYTHING, WHAT’S YOUR BEST STYLE MOMENT?
Thank you! My favorite outfit is my pajama that I bought in Tokyo at Muji. I wish I could wear it 24h and sometimes I end up wearing it in the studio if I’m working from home. One of the songs I wrote with Camila Cabello was actually in Pj’s. Color is very important to me so that’s most likely how you will see me. Colourful.
WHERE DO YOU FEEL FREEST?
In the studio.
YOU HAVE WRITTEN MUSIC FOR KATY PERRY, ZARA LARSSON, KYGO, DAVID GUETTA… DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR MEMORY FROM WORKING WITH AN ARTIST LIKE THAT?
I remember dancing in the studio with David and Charli while writing the song, almost crying when we wrote about growing up in a small town in Scandinavia with Kygo, and laughing a lot with Zara cos she’s such a funny gal.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR INSPIRATION?
Through working with other inspiring writers and producers as well as pretty much everything around me all the time.
WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST MUSIC HERO RIGHT NOW?
Michael Jackson will always be my hero.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST MUSIC MOMENT?
Landing in LA for the first time, getting into the car, turning on the radio and hearing my voice on my song with Avicii. That felt huge.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR 2018?
I hope to continue having fun in the studio, writing songs with amazing people.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR?
There are a songs that I’m excited about that will be released this year. I’m also looking forward to seeing the change after #metoo, especially in the music industry.
WHEN NOT MAKING MUSIC, WHAT DO YOU GET UP TO?
If I’m not making music you’ll probably find me at the movie theatre Ipic or in my bath tub with a sheet mask on.
